How to Play

Each type of chess piece has its unique way of moving. A player can make one move per turn, capturing the opponent's piece or making a strategic move. Players should try to control the center of the board, develop their pieces, and protect their king while seeking opportunities to attack the opponent's king. In our online platform, you can join a game, create a lobby, or explore various game options to enhance your chess experience.

Basic Rules

• White always moves first.
• A player can't make a move that puts their own king in check.
• If a king is in check, the player must make a move to remove the threat.
• If a player has no legal moves and their king is in check, it's checkmate, and the game is over.
• If a player has no legal moves and their king is not in check, it's a stalemate, and the game is a draw.

How To Use This Website

To find your way to the game, please choose one of the options from the navigation bar at the top, or click join a game from the homepage. From here once the game has loaded you can use the side menu and click lobbies to find or create a new lobby. The first person to join a lobby will play as black. Once two people have joined a lobby the game will start automatically. You may move the camera and move around the game using your mouse by left clicking and right clicking.

Interacting with pieces is easy, on your turn just click the piece you would like to move. The game will show you all available spots you can move too. Click one of the highlighted squares to make your move! If your king falls in check the game will highlight your king with a red square. Once the game is over an endgame screen will be shown. Click continue to be taken out of the lobby.

If you encounter any bugs during your play you may click the report bug button and fill in some details, this will automatically send a report to our servers where we can take a look at the issue!

Finally, you can customise your gameplay experience through the settings page from the side bar. You can choose new colours and change the look of the pieces you are using. For an authentic experience use standard, and or a full wizards chess experience use wizard. Note the wizard option may take longer to load!
